Fanny J. Crosby

Fanny Jane Crosby (1820–1915) was a prolific American hymn writer who composed over 8,000 sacred texts. Blind from infancy, Crosby became one of the most recognized hymnodists of the 19th century, with hymns like "Blessed Assurance," "Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior," and "To God Be the Glory" sung in churches worldwide.
